Profile

The role also requires the mentoring and coaching of younger, less experienced members of the team. This includes providing team members technical guidance on projects, reviewing design reports, and preparing the team for technical reviews.

Further, this role will require identifying and scoping continuous improvement projects within the structural design discipline. The TL will work closely with colleagues from other regions to ensure consistency of design methodologies and tools. Finally, the role will require developing a strong relationship with LM Chief Engineering office to ensure adherence to latest design best practices and technical risk mitigation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline.

Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area.

Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensures delivery within area of responsibility.

Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of structural design engineering.

Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.

Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university

Minimum of 7 years of mechanical design experience

Desired Characteristics:

Expertise in structural design with composite materials and stress analysis using finite element modeling (FEM).

Passion to guide and mentor colleagues with less experience.

Can manage complexity and volatility in daily work

A strong team player, who can work with international and multi-cultural teams.

Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and be able to identify key high priority activities.

Knowledge of wind turbine blade manufacture and quality procedures

A good communicator that can explain complex technical matters to executive leaders

Some experience within managing cross-functional development projects

Strong English language skill (verbal and writing)
