Job Description:
What is the role
The role will focus on trading and position management of Renewable Energy Credits (REC) in various Compliance and Voluntary markets in support of Shell Energy’s customer business. You will work closely with the Sr. REC trader, desk analyst, inside sales and originators within the trading guidelines to maximize value add and minimize value leakage.
Responsibilities:
Has the ability and a proven track record of producing $3M of PNL annually
Has experience in optimizing large Rec portfolios
Has experience in coding to make inferences from large data sets and aid in work process improvement/automation projects. Exposure in VBA, SQL databases, SQL Reporting Services, C, R, Python, or other advanced programming language preferred
Has experience with PJM GATS, M-RETS, ERCOT Renewables, NAR, and Nepool GIS
Collaborate with functional groups within Shell Energy including:
Accounting, Customer Support, Risk Control, and Scheduling to facilitate the tie-out and settlement processes for daily P/L reporting and exposure reporting
Contract Administration to verify confirmation information as well as Rec delivery language
Records Management
Credit
Analyze registry data and market fundamentals such as rec inventories and retirements to support position taking in the Rec book
Has experience in tracking and understanding the potential market impact of state level regulatory filings
Contribute to and ensure alignment with SENA's overall goals and strategies
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum 3 or more years of experience in power trading, operations, or fundamentals with extensive familiarity with one or more Compliance or National Voluntary markets
Knowledge of and adherence to industry Compliance and Regulatory rules.
Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
Commercially driven and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of REC market fundamentals
Ability to understand regulatory filings and proceedings
Basic coding knowledge is required, and strong coding experience desired
Demonstrate Grasp of economic reasoning skills
Understand mark-to-market accounting
