Job Description
Main Purpose of Job
To operate the Power plant on a shift basis in keeping with the O & M contract, the owner’s instructions, operating procedures and Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
Main Duties
Plant Operation:
To operate and monitor the plant on a shift basis from the Central Control Room (CCR) or local to the plant in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the performance guarantees as per the O & M contract and the owner’s instructions.
Health & Safety:
To ensure that all work carried out by the jobholder is so done within the Company’s Health and Safety rules and that the health and safety of self and others is not compromised by unsafe plant conditions. Implement emergency procedures when required.
Environmental Management:
Operate the plant to ensure that the requirements of all site environmental licences are strictly complied with.
Energy Trading:
Pass the necessary information for the electricity / trading system to the relevant authorities, and gas details to the gas supplier in a timely and efficient manner.
Documentation:
Ensure accurate and complete records are maintained of all plant operations in the Station log, Operators log and switching and loading log. Compile and complete routine and ad hoc reports on plant operations and procedural documentation as directed by the Shift Team Leader. Use the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to control routine work and enter defects.
Maintenance:
To carry out routine plant inspections and first line maintenance work as instructed and to record any plant defects he finds during the course of his regular site rounds.
Responsibility
Operation on a shift basis of Power Plant and its associated ancillary equipment either locally or using a Distributed Control System
