In this spirit, we are looking for a talented engineer, expected to perform design activities with particular focus to gearbox components and module design.
The Turboprop Module Design Lead Engineer, reporting to the Turboprop GBX Design Manager utilizes expertise to develop and execute objectives for self and others, solve problems and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.
The position is within the Turboprop Engineering Section dealing with the New Product Introduction process from concept design to product detailed definition, certification and initial production support for NPI programs (Catalyst, H80, new upcoming applications)
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Conduct concept design and technical feasibility studies.
Define Gearbox architecture for all the new applications / NPI tasks making explicit the Design Intent and assuring the achievement of cost, weight and compliance to requirement.
Flow down system requirements to component definition
Support the System Engineer in the discussions with Customer for what concern the definition of the product (e.g.: requirements, geometrical and functional interfaces…)
Manage interface definition and perform stack-up and assembly checks
Lead design activities (internal and external) for what concern system/product definition
Contribute to the development and certification of the product supporting testing activities (instrumentation, rig design, test plans) and producing certification reports
Collect the feedback from development / certification tests (h/w strip inspection) including failure investigation (TOPS8D approach)
Proactively support and coordinate activities with other Company departments and Suppliers to manage MRBs/VTs and implement product improvements (eg concurrent design, cost-out activities)
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor or Master Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university or high school technical diploma with relevant work experience
Consistent experience in Gearbox Design
English and Italian language knowledge, both written and oral
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Clear thinking, diligent approach, target oriented
Leadership in communicating business goals, program and processes
Knowledge of CAD design tools (preferable NX & Teamcenter)
EU Work Permit
Desired Characteristics
Capable to work in multicultural environment, preferable previous international experience
Experience with CAE tools (e.g. Nastran, Ansys)
Knowledge of gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, technologies
Knowledge of New Product Introduction process based on a previous experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Determination, orientation to results and passion for mechanic design
